Sometimes I spend literally hours on Instagram. Sounds crazy but it’s possible. I gave up using social media for leisure for the Lent season. But I still have to use it for work. Yes, I’ll still be on there but less for enjoyment and more for saving posts for the Naveszn.com Instagram account. (Even though I just posted a rap challenge. God knows my heart. lol) But I wanted to still tell you all how it’s easy to turn that leisure session on Instagram into a tool that may better your life in a way. But also disclaimer: Too much of anything is not healthy. So if you spend a lot of unproductive time on Instagram, you might need a break and re-evalute why this is a thing. So let’s get into the details…
I spend much of may time on Instagram saving and categorizing everything. I call it dreamboarding my life. It helps me with keeping track of all of the content that I may want for a photoshoot, Naveszn.com, the future, fitness routines, hairstyle, products, memes, tattoos, clothes…even relationships (aesthetic wise lol). I’m almost embarrassed about how many collections I have. But for the everyday daydreamers out there, this strategy allows you to, somewhat, redirect just everyday surfing on Instagram. It makes you feel sort of productive…
The Saving tool on Instagram is a way to save and categorize Instagram posts. You are able to have a general collection for the posts you like or you’re able to get really specific on the collection that you want to create to save the posts to. So for instance, if you are trying to lose weight or get fit, there are a lot of fitness gurus that post exercise routines on very specific areas. You can create a collection called “Fitness Goals.” My fitness category is called “Bad Bitch Body Goals” with Megan the Stallion on the cover picture because she is #goals. I’ve saved fitness routines, girls with nice bodies for me to look at for motivation, dance classes and more.
But my favorites are the Fashion and Dream House collections. These collections are the ones that I really feel like are helping me manifest the life that I want in a way. (maybe, maybe not) But I like saving nice outfits and pieces for the life that I soon want to live. If we’re being real, I love clothes so much and it breaks my heart every time I see something on Instagram that I can’t afford. But I save it so I can remember to buy it in the future. What’s funny, is that this art piece that I did was inspired by a Gucci suit that I wanted off of Instagram. (This was before we were “boycotting” them, y’all.)
But let’s get to the nitty gritty. I want to show you all how to do this. It helps so much. Here are the steps below.
Now let’s go through the steps of saving and making collections a.k.a your Instagram dreamboards. I’m going to take you through my personal Instagram account so that you see my collections while showing you how to create one.
