Happy International Women’s Day: An Ode to Black Women

March 8, 2019

Shout out to the strong women out there kicking society’s ass, not taking “No” for an answer and standing up for ALL women in this intersectional thang. 🙂

Huge Shout out To Black Women tho…

There isn’t anything like us. Even when our lives never seem to matter, we’ve pushed through to the top. Resilient. Even after ages of carrying the entire world on our backs; We are still Fighting. Standing. Believing. Being.

Imagine being at the bottom of society’s totem pole and fighting everyday of your life, even in subtle ways. Well you don’t have to wonder too far because that’s the everyday struggle of the black woman. So on days like this, it’s only right to rejoice in our greatness.

I think about Harriet Tubman a lot. Every black woman has that inside of her. The will to withstand the atrocities of time. They may even kill our bodies and try to stop our axis from spinning but they fail to realize that our resilient spirits keep shining and giving light like the sun. We pass it down to our children and radiate it to everyone we come in contact with. Think about when a black woman walks into the room. That energy captures the attention of everyone. They look at our hair, our face, our clothes….everything. It’s not for no reason. It’s because we’re just different and sometimes don’t even realize our own light. Some people can handle our light and some people can’t. It’s funny because people try to break us and don’t even realize we created the toolkit and the rule book. We are the Blueprint for perfection.

God showed out when she made us.  Her greatest creation.

I always think back to the fact that life started in Africa. So in all actuality, all these b*tches are our sons.  We’ve helped revolutionize the modern world. Think about that…WE ARE JUST SO GREAT!

From my Angela Davises and Nina Simones to my City Girls out there, I Stan for yall. Keep being the shit. I know it gets hard, but who’s more amazing than us? Period.
